"The reason why we're fighting is because we love so much. Because we're so in love with that joy, we're so in love with life and people and nature and humanity… and so we're fighting for the survival of our species." – Mitzi Jonelle Tan, Climate Justice Activist, the Philippines
In the back of a police van at a climate protest, three people’s lives unexpectedly collide.
Siah’s grandad in Zimbabwe is struggling to get water to his farm. Jamie’s contented life is rocked by a miscarriage, which she discovers could have been caused by air pollution. Hannah’s family don’t listen when she learns their home city could be underwater in 30 years.
After coming face to face with how the climate crisis is affecting themselves and their loved ones, Hannah, Siah and Jamie decide to fight back.
Created using interviews with climate activists from around the world, innovative, elaborate projections and live theatre’s first energy-generating dance floor, HOT IN HERE is a hopeful, funny show that celebrates the power of collective action – and a call to arms, a rallying cry for international climate justice in a country where our right to protest is increasingly uncertain.
“First of all, no action is little, every single action that we take towards the protection of our environment is important." Fatou Jeng, activist from The Gambia
For HOT IN HERE, each performance is followed by a post-show discussion with individuals taking climate action. From large scale protests to local initiatives, each night will feature speakers sharing on what Climate Action means to them and how you can get involved.
