What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are automatically placed onto your device by some websites that you visit. They are widely used to allow a website to function as well to provide website operators with information on how the site is being used.
We use cookies to keep track of your transaction as well as to identify how the website is being used and what improvements we can make.
Our cookies help us:
- Make our website work as you’d expect
- Remember your settings during and between visits
- Improve the speed/security of the site
- Allow you to share pages with social networks like Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest
- Continuously improve our website for you
- Make our marketing more efficient (ultimately helping us to offer the service we do at the price we do)
We do not use cookies to:
- Collect any sensitive information
- Pay sales commissions
There is no way to prevent these cookies being set other than to not use our site. The table below explains the cookies we use and why.

Some of the functionality that first party cookies on our website provide:
- Making our online booking process and checkout work
- Determining if you are logged in or not
- Remembering your search settings
- Remembering your preferences such as colours, text size and layout
Anonymous Visitor Statistics Cookies
We use cookies to compile visitor statistics such as how many people have visited our website, what type of technology they are using (e.g. Mac or Windows which helps to identify when our site isn’t working as it should for particular technologies), how long they spend on the site, what page they look at etc. This helps us to continuously improve our website. These analytics programs also tell us on an anonymous basis how people reached this site (e.g. from a search engine) and whether they have been here before helping us to put more money into developing our services for you instead of marketing spend.
You can opt-out of being tracked by Google Analytics across all websites here: http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
Third Party Cookies
Cookies are used in the Spektrix booking pathway when booking your tickets on line at www.gatetheatre.co.uk. These cookies are used to help recognise if you are a new or returning visitor, to distinguish your user account, and your session ID when booking. These cookies may track your data for up to one year after using the booking pathway. The Spektrix booking pathway also uses Google Analytics cookies. Further information can be found at: https://developers.google.com/analytics/devguides/collection/analyticsjs/cookie-usage
We host the Facebook Pixel on our site. This pixel enables us to track users (anonymous to us) once they click on one of our Facebook and Instagram adverts. This helps us see how people engage with the content on our website and if they purchase a ticket as a result of clicking on an ad.
Whilst it is not possible for a Facebook or Instagram user to entirely opt-out of adverts on the platform itself, you can change what types of adverts you see and the information Facebook uses to target you with adverts.
You may still see adverts from us on Facebook or Instagram after you change your preferences if you sit within some of Facebook’s anonymised interest based groups.
Head to your advertising settings on Facebook for more info and to change your advert preferences: https://www.facebook.com/ads/preferences/?entry_product=ad_settings_screen
Some cookies may be set by engaging with embedded media on our site, such as YouTube and Soundcloud or clicking to share with Facebook, Twitter or Pinterest. These cookies are listed below. Find out more about each company’s privacy policy using the links.

Advertising Cookies
Cookies are widely used in online advertising. Neither us, advertisers or our advertising partners can gain personally identifiable information from these cookies.
You can learn more about online advertising at http://www.youronlinechoices.com. You can opt-out of almost all advertising cookies at http://www.youronlinechoices.com/uk/your-ad-choices although we would prefer that you didn’t as ultimately adverts help keep much of the internet free. It is also worth noting that opting out of advertising cookies will not mean you won’t see adverts, just simply that they won’t be tailored to you any longer.
