My name is Shamima Noor, and I’m the Communications Manager at the Gate Theatre.
Why did you want to work for the Gate?
I’ve always had a huge admiration of the Gate’s work. Its commitment to bold, global storytelling and its dedication to showcasing urgent, thought-provoking work really resonates with me. I’m passionate about the power of theatre to bring people together and forge new connections, and the Gate’s programming consistently does just that – it asks some of the most pressing and vital questions of our time.
How would you describe yourself in three words?
Passionate, curious, and driven.
What are you excited for?
I’m incredibly excited about the Gate’s upcoming season and all of the work we’re doing around our Gateways programme. I’m really looking forward to exploring new and creative ways to grow our audiences and deepen engagement with the work.
What is your favourite show?
A Sudden Violent Burst of Rain really stayed with me. I saw first at the Edinburgh Fringe and then again at the Gate – it’s a deeply radical, thought-provoking piece that explores complex themes with such emotional depth and urgency. It exemplifies everything I love about theatre: bold storytelling that sparks conversation.
