Join our first masterclass in the Gateways series – Staging the Impossible!
You’re trying to create an earthquake at the bottom of the ocean, but your design budget is £200 and a dream. Trust us, we’ve been there.
What are ways of conceiving of epic, visceral images in DIY performance? How can we think about massive, audacious gestures onstage in both a literal and abstract way?
Join critically acclaimed performance duo emma + pj to explore hands-on approaches to staging the (seemingly) impossible. Through collaborative devising practice, material play, improvisation, dramaturgy and dreaming, we invite you to reimagine scale (even when money and resources are tight). This workshop is designed for theatre makers working primarily at fringe and studio scale and is open to artists with any level of devising experience.
This masterclass will take place in person at Marylebone Theatre, 6:30-9:30pm on 20 April 2026.
Please fill in the application form below to submit your interest for joining this workshop.
If you would prefer to submit your application via video recording or voice recording (no longer than 3-5 minutes), please email your application to [email protected]
Please note, applications for this masterclass close on 13th April, midday and we will not be able to accept any applications beyond this point. The Gate team will be in touch to confirm whether your application was successful by 15th April. Please note, if unsuccessful we are unable to offer feedback.
