Jamie Simmons – Design Assistant

Jamie is about to graduate in theatre design at Middlesex University and has recently been offered one of the four places to train on the MA Theatre Design programme at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. He is an Associate Artist of Red Ladder Theatre Company and reached the final shortlist of The Old Vic 12 competition last year. His work as an installation artist for the year-long piece ‘Thin Air’ was recently on display at The Royal Air Force Museum as part of a commission by the RAF for the First World War in the Air exhibition.

Jamie has also worked in the full-time Art Department for ITV’s This Morning. As Designer his credits include: F*cking Men (King’s Head Theatre, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Dublin Gay Theatre Festival, The Vaults Waterloo), Nobody’s Business, 5 Guys
Chillin’ (King’s Head Theatre), Fight Like A Girl (site-specific, Sunny Bank Mills, Youth Music Theatre:UK), The Bachelor Girls (Barbican Theatre Plymouth, Youth Music Theatre:UK), Kathy & Kathy Western Frontiers (Greenwich Dance/R&D for National Tour, Levantes Dance Theatre), In My Head (Brockley Jack Studio Theatre).

As Assistant/Associate Designer his credits include: Heartbreak Hotel (The Jetty Greenwich, produced by Managing Mayhem), We’re Not Going Back (National Tour, Red Ladder Theatre Company), People Watch (The Place Euston, Streetwise Opera for Tête à Tête Festival), Pop-Up Operas: UnconGENIE-al, My Mother My Daughter, Chuggers, Wake Up! (King’s Cross Public Spaces, Tête à Tête Festival).
