4 New Plays, 4 Writers, 32 Actors
The Richard Burton Company’s weeklong celebration of new writing returns for a third exciting year with another four world premieres at home in Cardiff before transferring once again to London’s Gate Theatre, a venue known to springboard the most exceptional new talent.
We continue our collaboration with The Royal Court Theatre and Paines Plough presenting three new plays by some of the most exciting new writing talent in the UK: Elinor Cook, Ali Taylor and Joe Ward Munrow.
This year we are also delighted to be working with Sherman Cymru to present a new play by Dafydd James, directed by Adele Thomas.
We are hugely proud of the ongoing success of Alistair McDowall’s Pomona from NEW:2014, and this year we are excited that NEW:2016 will be presented as part of A Nation’s Theatre, a festival shining a light on exciting and diverse theatre being made outside London, across the UK.
