Join designer Jon Bausor, currently designing The James Plays at the National Theatre, for a workshop on designing for the stage as we celebrate the Gate Theatre’s 35th Birthday. Jon Bausor designed The Great Highway in 2006 and is back to share insights into his remarkable career as a designer.

Jon Bausor’s ballet and dance theatre designs include The Thief of Baghdad, Ghosts and Before the Tempest (ROH2 and Royal Opera House), A Tale of Two Cities (Northern Ballet Theatre), Scribblings (Rambert), Firebird (Bern: Ballett), Snow White in Black (Phoenix Dance), Blood Wedding (Finnish National Ballet), HOWL (Gallim, New York) and Mixtures (English National Ballet). His opera credits include The Knot Garden (Klangbogen, Vienna), Queen of Spades (Edinburgh Festival Theatre) and The Lighthouse (Montepulciano). He has designed widely for theatre, including Ghost Stories (Duke of York's, London/Russia/Canada), Hamlet, King Lear and The Winter's Tale (RSC), The Tempest and Sanctuary (NT), The Birthday Party (Lyric Hammersmith), The Soldier's Tale (Old Vic), Kursk (Young Vic, Best Design, Evening Standard Awards), Scenes from the Back of Beyond (Royal Court), Lord of the Flies (Regents Park Open Air Theatre), Water (Filter), Beloved (Shebbahurr, Palestine) and productions for the Abbey Theatre, Dublin. He designed the London 2012 Paralympics Opening Ceremony.
