Ever thought about working or being involved in theatre? Want to learn more about directing? Or maybe lighting?
The Gate Crashers company could be for you!
What is the Gate Crashers Company?
Gate Crashers is a new youth company set up by the Gate Theatre. We will be holding a taster week in the October half term and are looking for 12 young people aged between 17 to 19 to come and get involved. Join our taster week Monday 24th - Saturday 29th October, 10am-6pm.
What will happen during the October Gate Crashers week?
The taster week is a great opportunity for you to explore the various skills and elements that go into making a piece of theatre, and to also see if joining our youth company is for you.
You will spend each morning with the Gate's Associate Director, Lynette Linton, and Creative Associate, Jade Lewis. Using our upcoming production, I Call My Brothers as inspiration, you will delve into the world of storytelling, devising and script work.
And then… spend your afternoons learning from some of the industry's top experts:
Leading facilitator Jan Sharkey–Dodds will run a session on Character Development
Dancer, actress and facilitator Jennifer Jackson will lead on Movement
Musician and facilitator Tristan Parks will run an exciting workshop on Sound Design
Christopher Haydon, Gate's Artistic Director, will lead a session on Directing
UK Hammer And Tongue Slam winner for 2012 Adam Kammerling will teach us all about Rap Poetry
Richard Lambert, the Gate’s Technical Manager, will take us through the ins and outs of Lighting Design
We are looking for 12 young people between the ages of 17 to 19 to join us for this week. You do not need any previous theatre experience to apply.
And then what?
After our take-over week, you will then have the chance to join the Gate’s Young Associates’ Scheme, after a meeting with Associate Director, Lynette Linton.
As a Gate Young Associate, you will be offered mentoring and support as we continue to work together.
Benefits of being a Young Associate:
· A free ticket to all Gate Theatre productions
· Free tickets to workshops
· Opportunity to be mentored by the Associate Director
· Automatic renewal on to the next Gate Crashers activity
How can I apply for the taster week?
Please fill out our Gate Crashers Application Form. We ask that you also fill out the attached Equal Opportunities Monitoring Form. We encourage either a written or a video response for question number two of the application form.
