I've adored every moment of being a Gate Young Associate and wouldn't change a thing about it!
It's been an amazing year at the Gate. I have successfully landed a part in the young ensemble at the Lyric Hammersmith for Jack in the Beanstalk.
The variation of work offered to us and the support network at the Gate has been the best thing about being a Young Associate. I have recently co-founded a new company called 'Missmanaged Theatre' that is committed to working with female artists and creating work focusing on taboo topics and underrepresented voices.
The programme has helped bridge the gap post-education to the professional world of theatre. I am about to start an MA in Theatre Direction at the Orange Tree Theatre/St.Mary's Twickenham.
As a Young Associate, I have developed my confidence and creative outlook in an unimaginable way. I have developed my skills to progress as a playwright and actor.
It has been an eclectic, informative and inspirational year in in which I have learnt loads about myself and the different ways I can create and interrogate theatre. I have also made lifelong friends and collaboration partners. I am going on to study Drama and English Literature at the University of Manchester.
My year as a Young Associate has been eye-opening and I have learnt so much about my craft, both as an actress and writer. I feel readier than ever to venture further into the professional world of acting and theatre. At the moment, I am busy auditioning and am in the recall process for an exciting dystopian British feature film!
We've had so much great opportunities, like doing a workshop at Lamda or watching #HashtagLightie and also learning about theatre and the industry. I'm at Guildhall School of Music and Drama, which is going great!
