Martina Laird was born in Port of Spain in Trinidad and has built up a reputation as one of our most gifted actors, working across a range of landmark theatre productions, film and television including the All-Female Shakespeare Trilogy at the Donmar, Eastenders, Blitz and Casualty winning a Screen Nation Award and Michael Elliot Trust Award.
 
As part of the Gate’s celebration of Windrush alongside A Small Place  by Jamaica Kincaid, Martina will read a selection of poetry from West Indian poets exploring some of the breadth and depth of an incredibly rich literary culture.
