Dear Gate audiences, artists and colleagues,
We have taken the very difficult decision to cancel the remaining performances of Trainers this week due to the ongoing concerns over Covid-19. The wellbeing of our artists, audience and staff is our primary concern. With this in mind, we are also taking the step to postpone the upcoming run of Omeros, due to open in May.
We apologise for the disappointment this will cause. All current bookers for Trainers and Omeros will be contacted by Gate Theatre staff (working from home) in the next 48 hours with further information.
We are currently working towards making some of our work available to watch online – more news on that as soon as we have it – so please look out for updates via our website and social media channels.
We will do our utmost to protect the people with whom we work during this crisis. However, as a charity, our ticket sales are vital to our existence, and suspending performances will have a huge impact on our future. Any donation, large or small, will be gratefully received to enable us to continue making groundbreaking international work, with and for our community.
We would like to sincerely thank the brilliant companies of Trainers and Omeros for all the hard work that they have put into their shows, and for their understanding with this difficult decision.
We would also like to thank the Arts Council for their leadership and support.
With all best wishes,
Ellen McDougall and everyone at the Gate Theatre, London
