FUTURE PROJECTS

Throughout the year, we run bespoke projects within our local community, from set design workshops in local schools to performance workshops with local community groups. If you belong to a local group who would like to develop work with us, please contact Emma Higham at participate@gatetheatre.co.uk or on 020 7229 5387

The Kensington Odyssey

The Gate is currently developing an exciting programme of work for 2012 entitled The Kensington Odyssey. Throughout the year, the Community Department will set off on an ambitious journey, in the spirit of the Odyssey itself, to discover and engage with the stories which begin in our local area but stretch and reach out far wider, across the world itself. Discreet projects and partnerships are currently being programmed with local artists and community groups, resulting in final performances/theatre events in the summer of 2012.

If you belong to a local group or partner and would like to develop a strand of work with us, please contact Emma Higham at participate@gatetheatre.co.uk or on 020 7229 5387

Victoria & Albert and the Gate TheatreLab

This term, the V&A’s TheatreLab programme joins forces with the professional design team of the Gate theatre to offer students brilliant opportunities in set design.

Each day-long workshop begins at the V&A where your group will learn about the steps involved in designing for performance, study rare set models and archives. They will then spend the afternoon watching a production of ‘Yerma’ at the Gate Theatre, before meeting and talking to one of the creative team about the show and trying out some ideas for themselves.

‘Excellent. The best out-of-school trip we’ve done!’ (Set Design workshop, July 2011)
