EXIT LIGHTS
Energy saving lightbulbs are just as bright as ordinary lightbulbs, but they use up to 80% less energy. If everyone in the UK changed just one lightbulb, we would save enough carbon dioxide to fill the Albert Hall almost 2000 times.
Visual Artist, Fabia Claris, will be working with local groups across the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea during March and April, painting old style lightbulbs from their homes (participants will be given energy-savings lightbulbs in exchange).
The finished painted lightbulbs will be hung in the Gate Theatre foyer through-out the run of our new show NOCTURNAL (16 April - 16 May). They will be lit briefly each night as the audience exit the theatre, flickering out as they make the audience make their way down the foyer stairs to the street.

Fabia Claris trained at Central School of Art and Design, Wimbledon School of Art, the Ruskin School of Drawing and Fine Art and the Prince’s School of Drawing. Her practice combines sculpture and drawing. She is currently works primarily in sculpture, often building her work with mixed found (recycled) materials.
