PARTICIPATE WITH THE GATE
Creating theatre for, with and by our local community is our aim. Our participation events take place throughout the season and ask you to come with us on creative journeys and take part in unique experiences.
The Gate is located in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, one of the most ethnically and economically diverse in Britain. More than one hundred different languages are spoken in our Borough. This represents a wealth of experience, perspectives and stories that we are keen to engage with, finding connections between our international repertoire and our multicultural community.
Our programme consists of:
CREATIVE INSIGHTS
For every production at the Gate, we offer you the chance to explore the themes and ideas relating to the play through a Creative Insight workshop. Creative Insights are for everyone, from first-time attendees to frequent theatre-goers.
GATE MASTERCLASS
Through collaborations with choreographers, musicians, film-makers and designers the Gate creates new ways of thinking about theatre. From discussions to practical workshops, each Masterclass invites you to understand the decisions we make and the challenges we encounter in creating work for the Gate stage
Gate Masterclasses are for emerging professional theatre makers, and focus on the process of creating work for the Gate stage.
PERFORMANCE PROJECTS
Throughout the year, we run bespoke projects within our local community, from set design workshops in local schools to performance workshops with local community groups.
