The Gate is dedicated to producing the most innovative and exciting internationally focussed new plays from around the globe. We accept unsolicited script submissions from writers based both in the UK and across the world.
We are keen to find plays that interrogate the ideas, themes and forces that are shaping the world today, and that are formally inventive in their approach to theatre. Internationalism is a tricky, fluid concept and we want to create work that interrogates it from every angle – politically, philosophically and theatrically.
If you are thinking of submitting a play to us, please read the information in the document below, Submitting A Play To The Gate for more information on the plays we are keen to read and where to send it.
Due to limited resources, unfortunately we can only respond to submissions we intend to develop further at the Gate. We are also only able to consider plays with up to 5 characters, so please ensure that your script includes a clear cast breakdown to show the number of actors it requires. If it is over 5 we regret that we will not be able to consider it.
