The Gate is dedicated to producing the most innovative international playwrights. We welcome unsolicited script submissions of international and translated plays. Due to limited resources, unfortunately we can only respond to submissions we intend to develop further at the Gate.

We accept:

  • Plays in English from non-British writers, including those from North America,  Canada, New Zealand, Australia and Southern Ireland
  • Plays translated from any language and from any corner of the globe:
  • Contemporary international plays
  • Classical international plays, with emphasis on lesser-known works
  • Adaptations

We do not accept:

  • Plays by playwrights from the United Kingdom
  • Production proposals

How to submit your play:
Please send the entire script by post to 'Script Submissions' at the Gate offices, including your contact details, making sure pages are numbered and it is not your only copy of the script.
