DUTY MANAGERS (£30/shift)
We require duty managers for each of our productions to take responsibility for the welfare of both audience and staff during  performances as well as helping show staff with any technical problems that may arise. Applicants should hold a valid first aid certificate for appointed persons or higher and have a broad knowledge of technical theatre and an understanding of health and safety legislation. Excellent interpersonal skills and a responsible manner are essential for this role.

BOX OFFICE ASSISTANTS (£28/shift)

The Gate Theatre requires Box Office Assistants to sell and distribute tickets to audience members before the performances.  Box Office staff also assist the Duty Manager in ensuring the smooth running of the Front of House operation and the welfare of the staff and audience while they are in the theatre building.  Some experience of working with a CRM database is desirable though not essential as full training will be provided.  Applicants should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and have experience of working in a customer service based role.

VOLUNTEER USHERS
The Gate are seeking dedicated volunteers to join our front of house team to create a safe welcoming environment for our patrons. Our ushers will be responsible for providing customer care and ensuring the safety of our audiences throughout the show. Applicants must be aged 18 or over . An interest in theatre and experience of customer service is desirable.

INTERNSHIPS
We offer full-time, three month internships, working across all  departments.  Interning at the Gate provides a rare opportunity to gain real insight into how a theatre company – not just one department – works.  Alongside core duties, we encourage individual development in areas of special interest through mentoring within the company (eg. marketing, producing, general management, education, script development, casting).

March 2010 - May 2010

Ongoing Positions

ASSISTANT DIRECTORS
Assistant Director placements at the Gate offer emerging directors the opportunity to work on individual shows and to offer vital artistic and administrative support to the director and their team. All positions are advertised here.

PLEASE NOTE
We do not offer work placements or work shadowing in the directing field.

CASTING
We cast in-house for all our productions. In the interest of saving paper and the environment please send any expressions of interest by email to gate@gatetheatre.co.uk

CASUAL ROLES
STAGE CREW
(£50/8 hour day then £10/hr)
We require casual stage crew for each of our productions – particularly for fit-ups and get-outs  - and are currently looking to expand our list of contacts for this role. Alongside a broad knowledge of technical theatre applicants should display a willingness to specialise in either lighting, sound, set construction or stage management.
